Potty time and some Beyonce

Logan: "daddy where are my nipples?"

Brian: "I don't know Logan, where are your nipples?"

Logan: "I put them away!"

Tonight was a monumental night. Logan PEED IN THE POTTY! He sits on it every night before bath, but only ever peed the very first time he sat on it months ago - and that was just a dribble. Tonight was a full bladder pee in the potty! YAY!

Tonight he also informed us that "Beyonce is smokin' hot", and that "Mommy and Grandma have boobies, but Daddy, Wrigey, Papa, and Grandpa no have boobies"

Logan = Awesome for the following reasons:

This morning during breakfast, his hands had a couple crumbs on them and he goes:
"I need a wipe, I'm a mess!"

Then my kid just stood up and said the following:

"Mommy! Watch me Lindsay! One, two, free, four, five, six, sheven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen! YAY!"

He has a fake laugh. And it is a good one.

Prayer

Dear God,

Please let this be my month. Please. I am ready. I am relaxed. I am thinking positive thoughts. Logan is asking for a "baby in mommy's tummy yet?". It's time. Please help.

Sincerely,

Lindsay

First-name basis

Today:

Logan: "Mommy! I found a froggy!"

Me: (didn't have a chance to answer him RIGHT THAT SECOND)

Logan: "LINDSAY! I found a froggy!"

Me: "Logan? Did you just call me Lindsay?"

Logan: "ummmm yep"

Broken? Nah... Mommy fixed it.

I just put Logan down for bed. Let me set the scene for you. Crib, Logan, Puppy, Sheep, Dino, Alligator, Football, Mouse, Moose, 3 books, and a music box. Yes, a hard, wooden music box - held under his arm like a football. He is set to go.

I barely got cozy on the couch when I hear Logan starting to scream:

"Uh oh! Uh oh! Uh Oh! I broke the bed!!!"

I flew up the stairs thinking he fell out, or that he is stuck, or that something else went terribly wrong. But no, what did I find? I found the poor kid struggling to get his blanket straightened out. His blanket was bunchy, and therefore, he had thought he "broke the bed". I fixed the blanket, he closed his eyes, and what was done was done.

Goodnight my sweetheart!

Two Year Check-Up

Logan had is Two Year Well Child Check-up today.

Weight 29lbs - 55%
Height 34 1/2 inches - 60-65%

Logan actually demonstrated his ability to string together 5-6 words in a sentence, talked about Handy Manny, and screamed bloody-murder about the band aid on his finger after the Lead test. Kid hates band aids. He would rather stare at a bloody stump than a Shrek Band Aid.

Happy Birthday Logan!

Dear Logan,

Don't blame me that this post is five days late. It has been a crazy week, baby! You have had a fever, we had house guests.... and here we are.

Saturday at 5:22pm you turned two-years-old. That is 24 months of life you have had! And wow, all your have accomplished in 24 months... You started as this tiny little peanut in an incubator, and here you are two-years-later an intelligent, kind, funny, healthy, and sweet little person.

You have taught me so much in the past two years; patience, survival, humility and overwhelming pride (oxymoron, I know, but I have no other way to express it), fear of the unknown, and the ability to feel happiness unlike I have ever known before. You are cautios of your world. You are concious of feelings of others, the space around you, you have a sense of humor, and a good one at that. You have taught me that a Mother's love is the most powerful force on Earth, and just looking in your eyes will help me believe that even on the darkest of days, everything will be ok because we have you.

I read a quote: Don't wait to make your son a great man - make him a great boy. ~Author Unknown. In my eyes, Logan, you are a great boy. You learn new things everyday. You really listen, and you love to do new things. You appreciate standing next to a tree and feeling the roughness of the bark, and listening to the swishing of the leaves. You will spend hours in the kitchen with me measuring ingredients, stirring batter, and baking cookies. You love books. You love Mickey Mouse. You love talking, and will string 5-6 words to make a sentence and that, my amazing kid, is awesome. You are "all boy" as they say. You love trucks, and trains, and animals. Yet, you love cooking, swaddling your baby, and hugging your mom. You don't like to be dirty, you love a clean napkin, and you like to clean up your toys. You usually only work on one or two things at a time, so the house is not usually a mess of toys. You like to stand in the bathtub, and you will try to convince us to let you sleep in our bed each night. You will say "mommy daddy bed?". When he say no, you reply "ohhhh...". Hey, at least you are persistent. You have a passionate temper, like your mama ;), and you are dramatic... like your mama. You can throw a ball, and learning to catch pretty well. You are afraid of Elmo. You can sing your ABC's, and get especially excited at the end to sing "Meeeee!!!" at the end of "Next time won't you sing.... with.... MEEE!!" and put your arms out to your side with a smile on your face. You can count to ten in English, Spanish and French, even though you sometimes boycott saying Ten, Dias, or Dix... for reasons unknown. You are terrified of your "potty" excpet before bathtime. Daddy does bathtime in this house. It works for you two. It is your thing. You sit with your hands and fingers linked and sitting in your lap when you are watching TV, waiting patiently, or listening intently.

You give the best smooches ever. You love to snuggle, and ask to do so every night.

You love people "to the moon and back", and will announce this fact often. You love babies - especially Baby Jack. You will be a wonderful big brother someday.

You had a great time on your birthday! You woke up on the morning of your birthday and ate a kiwi, Kashi crackers, and a cereal bar. That is what you requested! You had some milk and opened a few gifts. After an early nap we went to your "Monkey" party at the GymNest with a bunch of your buddies! After a while of warming up, you had a great time! You received some wonderful gifts from your friends, loved your monkey cupcakes, and ended the night at home polishing off two huge pieces of veggie pizza.

Now you are two. On to another year full of surprises!

I love you, Logan!

Love, Mom

Snuggle time

Logan just told me "Mom, I wanna snuggle", then curled up next to me and held my hand and said "I snuggle with mommy". He actually grabbed my hand and folded his fingers with mine. I love being the mommy.

Birthday post to come... I know, I'm slacking.

Bedtime Story

The other night we put Logan to bed after reading the book "The Day You Were Born". He asked to have the book in bed, so we agreed, and I watched him after I left the room - he turned over to his tummy, opened the book, and started whispering to himself like he was reading in bed. He put his chin in his hands and studied the pictures on the pages. I couldn't help but have a flashback of that first night we had him home from the hospital and we put him in his crib for the first time to see what it would be like to look at our baby in his crib. He was so tiny, just a little lump of squishy newborn, and here he was reading in bed.

And today, my little independent man, is eating Kashi crackers for breakfast ... with a fork.

Options

I gave Logan an option today - either share the toy cell phones with Nile, or go in timeout. He put himself in timeout and talked on both cell phones. Nice.

Bilingual

Today during a snack of veggie goldfish and milk, my son, just 6 days shy of two years old, sat in his chair and sang a song that he made up... in Spanish. No, I'm serious. It was complete with hand gestures and swaying back and forth. It went a little like this:

"Cinco, ocho, neuveeeeee! Tres, cuatro, ochoooooo! Neuveeee! Cinco, seis, ocho! Dias!"

Where did this kid come from?
